A Public hearing for the California Public Utilities Commission on April 14th 2011 in the state building at 505 Van Ness Civic Center San Francisco FLYER
The commission heard from 30+ concerned citizens, mostly about safety hazards posed by smart meters and especially the proposed re-licensing of Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County. This comes after an "unprecendented" nuclear crisis situation (ongoing) on Japan's northeastern coast at the Fukushima Plant, and discovery of previously undiscovered fault lines within the Diablo Plant area (who's fault? OUR FAULT!) Many were over the generation and actual activists who opposed the diablo canyon and san onofre plants 20 years ago, saddened that it is still occurring for sure but still at it nonetheless with more conviction than ever (I'll assume since its my first experience with such group). Complete with drums, posters, banners, guitar, (no megaphone?) for the 50+ protesters on the state hall steps afterwards. We want a full life! We dont want a half-life.
Here is what it is about CPUC ENERGY DIVISION RESOLUTION E-4398
Good experience to see how the commission operates, learned a lot.
